James Cameron, the renowned filmmaker behind Terminator and Avatar, has joined the board of directors of Stability AI, a company known for its Stable Diffusion AI image-synthesis models. The models, launched in 2022, can generate images based on text descriptions. Cameron has a history of being at the forefront of emerging technologies, including CGI, and sees the intersection of generative AI and CGI image creation as the next wave.

Hardware hacker Dmitry Grinberg successfully booted Linux on the Intel 4004, the world's first commercial microprocessor, which has 2,300 transistors and an original clock speed of 740 kHz. The process took about 4.76 days for the Linux kernel to boot. The Intel 4004 was initially designed for a Japanese calculator called the Busicom 141-PF and was later replaced by more powerful Intel chips.

ChromaLock, a YouTube creator, published a video showing how to modify a Texas Instruments TI-84 graphing calculator to connect to the Internet and access OpenAI's ChatGPT. The modification, called TI-32, uses a Wi-Fi-enabled microcontroller and allows users to type in problems and receive live responses on the screen. The video, titled 'I Made The Ultimate Cheating Device,' demonstrates the custom hardware modification.

Mark Robinson, the Republican nominee for governor of North Carolina, denied inflammatory comments made on a pornography website's message board over a decade ago, claiming they were manufactured by AI. He told CNN reporter Andrew Kaczynski that over one million dollars had been spent on him through AI by a billionaire's son to destroy him.

Microsoft, BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners, and MGX announced a partnership to invest in AI infrastructure, aiming to raise $30 billion in private equity capital, which could grow to $100 billion with debt financing.
