The US Department of Justice identified an individual, known as 'Individual X', who transferred 69,370 Bitcoins to a US government-controlled address in 2020. The Bitcoins were stolen from the Silk Road dark-web drug market. The US government has since established legal ownership of the Bitcoins, which have grown in value to $4.4 billion. The individual was allowed to avoid prison as part of a deal.

Julian Mattucci, also known as God Emperor Myco, created new generations of Psilocybe subtropicalis mushrooms to fix issues caused by sustained inbreeding. He runs the Colorado-based psychedelic research company Imperial Labs. After three cultivation cycles, he tried the new mushrooms and was astonished by their potency.

Eli Lilly has sent cease-and-desist letters to hundreds of compounding pharmacies, telehealth companies, and medical spas making and selling compounded versions of tirzepatide, the active ingredient in its diabetes drug Mounjaro and weight-loss medication Zepbound. Tirzepatide was on the US FDA's shortage list from December 2022 until October 2, 2024. The company's hawkish legal strategy indicates a crackdown against any entity selling non-name-brand medications.
