Astronomers improved measurements of H0 by calibrating the relationship between Cepheids' pulsation frequency and their luminosity. However, this approach was limited due to Cepheids' brightness. To measure distances to galaxies, scientists used Cepheids to calibrate the distances to bright supernovas, leading to disagreeing values of 50 km/s/Mpc and 100 km/s/Mpc.
